Author of articles for the popular press including: Sierra, Country Life, Harrowsmith, Great Expeditions, Connections, Barron's Business Weekly, Minneapolis/St. Paul Magazine, The St. Paul Pioneer Press, Jornal Do Brasil, Venezuelanalysis.org, Alternet and Great Lakes Fisherman.

Wrote, edited, narrated and co-produced Heritage for Sale, a 55 minute video documentary on the history and consequences of European settlement in Minnesota's forested areas.  HFS aired over several PBS stations 1992-95.

Produced a series of commentaries on sociological topics for six Minnesota and Wisconsin Public Radio stations in 1989 and 1990.

Supervised mentally ill adolescent and adult residents first as a technician and later as a “re-entry facilitator” at Brainerd State Hospital in 1975-77.

Supervised juvenile delinquent residents at "Storefront" community residential center/classroom for Brainerd State Hospital in 1975-77.

Performed social worker duties in 1974 for Wyandotte County Social Services in Kansas City, Kansas through a social service leadership training program.

Occasional memberships in Midwest Sociological Society, Sociologists of Minnesota and Great Plains Sociological Society.

Served in the combat zone, Vietnam, U.S. Navy, USS Kearsarge CVS-33, 1969-70.
